Plans were in place to unveil the new Murciélago at this year’s Paris Auto Show, however the Sesto Elemento is now set to take its place.

The Sesto Elemento has an unusual mid-engine layout, allowing the car to remain compact and to have an extremely short overhang. The concept car also has an amazing power-to-weight ratio, enabling it to reach speeds in excess of 185 mph.

Due to these recent developments, car enthusiasts will now have to wait until the Geneva Auto Show in March for the Murciélago to go on show.

Stephan Winkelmann, president and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, said, “The Sesto Elemento shows how the future of the super sports car can look – extreme lightweight engineering, combined with extreme performance results in extreme driving fun.

Systematic lightweight engineering is crucial for future super sports cars: for the most dynamic performance, as well as for low emissions.

This stunning car is able to achieve 570 hp at 8000 rpm, meaning that it is capable of going form 0-62 mph in less than 2.5 seconds and able to reach a top speed of 200 mph.

Such speeds can be achieved as the Sesto Elemento has a 570bhp V10 engine, e-gear six-speed automated manual transmission, an all-wheel-drive system and yet it only weighs 999kg (2,202lb).

Mr Winkelmann added, “We will apply this technological advantage right across our model range. Every future Lamborghini will be touched by the spirit of the Sesto Elemento.”

If this is the case then future Lamborghinis are set to be stunningly designed high-speed supercars the likes of which have not as of yet been seen.
